Holding its title at the top, Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetland Centre has been awarded a gold accolade from Visit England.

It’s the second time the avian attraction has been given the title, as part of the Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme. The centre was ‘mystery shopped’ by an assessor in December 2017.

It was marked on visitor arrival, quality of displays, cleanliness, catering, customer care and staff knowledge. To be in the running for a Gold accolade, attractions need an overall percentage score of at least 87 per cent, which Slimbridge exceeded with a final score of 92 per cent.

Chris Foster is the general manager of Slimbridge: ‘We’re delighted to have retained the VisitEngland Gold Accolade. In addition, we have improved on last year’s score – a testament to the enthusiasm, hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers, as well as our wonderful wildlife.’
