Slimbridge Wetland Centre is inviting its visitors to share what the WWT site means to them this summer – exploring its brand-new exhibits, reliving favourite features and discovering its best kept secrets as part of its new #MySlimbridge campaign.
#MySlimbridge aims to celebrate the many aspects of the Gloucestershire attraction, with every wetland adventure meaning something different for each visitor.
The summer campaign also showcases the opening of Slimbridge’s eight new exhibits that have been built as part of the Slimbridge 75 project – originally called Slimbridge 2020 – funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and supporters over the last three years.
Three of the exhibits have opened this summer 2021, giving visitors the chance to meet the world’s rarest goose at Mission Possible; see the stars of the Living Wetland Theatre flying overhead; and truly immerse themselves in the wetland landscape at the Waterscapes Aviary.
Also created as part of the Slimbridge 75 project, the new Wetland Heroes app encourages families to discover more at the site through fact-finding missions and fun challenges that can be played by visitors of all ages. It’s free to download, too.
From seeing the wetlands by canoe to stepping into the boots of an Arctic explorer; searching the site for all six species of flamingo or even meeting poisonous amphibians at Toad Hall; there’s always something new to experience at Slimbridge.
And #MySlimbridge wants to highlight what the site means to each and every visitor, from first-time explorers to seasoned members.
Whether it’s adventurous, educational, relaxing or surprising, families can share what Slimbridge means to them this summer by tagging social media posts of their days out and experiences with the hashtag #MySlimbridge.
