Rendcomb College officially opened its new village Post Office and Stores this October 2023, after it took over the building earlier this year.
Providing a local postal service to the village, the new shop also stocks a variety of locally-sourced produce including groceries, fresh sourdough bread, chutneys and greeting cards, as well as serving up fresh pastries and coffee using locally-roasted beans from Cirencester-based Rave Coffee.
It also has plans to introduce an outdoor bench seating area in summer 2024, to provide a comfortable spot for local people to sit and enjoy a coffee.
The Post Office and Stores was officially opened by Henry Robinson, Deputy Lieutenant High Sheriff of Gloucestershire, on Friday 6 October 2023, with Rendcomb's head of college Rob Jones and his wife Pippa; bursar Rowan Elliott-Jones; college staff and members of the community in attendance.
Robinson praised Rendcomb College's staff for their hard work in getting the shop up and running, saying: 'It is marvellous to see the Post Office and Stores being opened to become another community centre and hub for the village, and the whole Rendcomb community.'
Rendcomb College is the Cotswolds' leading co-educational day and boarding school with a community of around 400 pupils, aged three to 18 — and hopes its new store will become a 'valuable asset to the Rendcomb community.'
Rendcomb Post Office is open from 7.45am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday in the heart of Rendcomb Village.
