Gloucester Services proves it's top dog, beating out motorway stations across the country to be best in show.

Found on the M5 — and often on the telly — Gloucester Services is revealed in the top spot on a list of the best service stations in the UK for travelling with dogs — overtaking stations in Cumbria, the East Midlands and Birmingham.

Research conducted by automotive platform, Auto Trader, revealed the top five most dog-friendly motorway services in the country as families take to the roads during the peak period of summertime travel.

Each of the stations studied were given a dog-friendly score, with over 100 assessed, considering aspects from whether the main foyers allow dogs inside to how much green space there is for exercise.

Gloucester Services took best in show thanks to its long dog walking path, its pond for paddling and its dog-friendly concourse — along with the most votes from Auto Trader's community of drivers.

Drivers commented on the amazing farm shop at Gloucester that allows travellers to pick up fresh produce on their journeys.

Making up the rest of the top five was Tebay Services — the flagship station owned by Gloucester Services owner the Westmorland Family — at number two; Annandale Water and Donnington Park sharing third place; and Hopwood Park and Rugby Services also taking joint fourth place.

Gloucester Services offers food and drink options sourced from more than 130 local producers, from its fish counter, patisserie, cheese and deli counters and butchers.
