Located in Cinderford with lakeside views, the new Gloucestershire College campus benefits from open-plan spaces, a high-tech building and stunning grounds. There’s also a large central space with student-run services including a hair and beauty salon, and a restaurant.
The £15.8 million-pound development is part of the major Cinderford Northern Quarter redevelopment, and claims to offer some of the ‘best post-16 education and training facilities in the country’.
In addition to its student facilities, the campus is doing its bit for the environment too, through the installation of solar panels, the use of local contractors, LED lighting, induction technology for cooking, and energy efficient ventilation, cooling and heating systems.
Matthew Burgess, Gloucestershire College’s principal, said: ‘After a busy summer of preparation, we are delighted to open our brand-new campus on time and to schedule.
‘It gives my staff and I great pleasure to warmly welcome in our Forest students to such a high tech and stunning building and grounds. This new campus has been a long time in the making and I’m extremely proud to now be able to offer these first-class educational facilities to the Forest of Dean community.’
