Originally due to take place this May, Gloucester’s popular Tall Ships and Adventure Festival 2021 is being postponed and will now take place in 2022.
Gloucester City Council has announced that the three-day festival will now take place in June 2022.
The event was due to take place in May 2021, however the government’s roadmap out of lockdown meant that the festival — which normally attracts around 100,000 visitors to the city — would not be able to go ahead in its traditional format.
The Gloucester Tall Ships and Adventure Festival will now take place over the June Platinum Jubilee weekend in 2022, being held to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The Jubilee weekend will see the May 2022 bank holiday moved to Thursday 2 June 2022, with an extra bank holiday on Friday 3 June 2022.
The fun-filled family event traditionally sees a host of huge ships sail into Gloucester Docks and, previously, budding pirates have been able to clamber onboard tall ships, watch skirmishes take place, learn more about maritime history, watch jet pack rocket man displays along with so much more.
