Plans for a 15,000 square foot soft play adventure centre at Gloucester Quays will no longer go ahead as originally planned.
Work has already started adapting the upper deck area of Gloucester Quays shopping centre to become a leisure and entertainment venue, after plans were approved for the new facility back in June 2018.
However, following further research by SoGlos, it has become apparent that a soft play centre is no longer on the cards at the shopping centre.
A spokesperson for Gloucester Quays told SoGlos: ‘We are not creating a soft play on the upper deck. We are carrying out work for a potential new tenant who has not yet been decided upon.’
It’s thought that the new tenant will still fall under the leisure and entertainment category, and that the offering will most likely be something interactive and educational, but so far no agreement has been formally signed.
Originally the plans had outlined space for a children’s soft play area, a cafeteria, party rooms, staff office, shopping area, buggy store, toilets and facilities for disabled customers.
Although many of these facilities may still be made available in the space, it’s unclear what type of businesses will be operating from the upper deck.
