A new splash pad built inside Leisure at Cheltenham will open on Wednesday 1 August 2018.

The splash pad is part of a £2.5 million redevelopment of the centre, which has also seen upgrades to the changing space and reception area.

The indoor aquatic play zone is suitable for both children and adults to enjoy, and will include a number of water play activities, with full details being published on SoGlos nearer the time of opening.

Located near to the leisure centre’s swimming pool, special doors can cordon off the splash pad so it’s safe for younger children. It’s also available to hire for private birthday parties.

Entrance to the splash pad will cost £5 on its opening day, which includes entrance to Leisure at Cheltenham’s Big Day of Fun.

In addition to the splash zone, the leisure centre’s fitness suite will be extended with two new exercise studios and new cardio equipment being installed.

£330,000 of funding has been contributed by Sport England towards the swimming facilities as part of its Swim Local programme.

The Cheltenham Trust’s chief executive, Julie Finch, said: ‘We’re very excited to see the project actually come to life after a significant amount of planning.

‘As a not for profit organisation, we can continue to reinvest money back into our sites across Cheltenham, continually improving the customer experience and offering the best in health and fitness space and equipment. We were particularly keen to ensure that any of our customers who have special needs are properly catered for, which has resulted in a number of key re-design features.’
