The 22 sculptures that make up the Kingfisher Trail in the Cotswolds are being auctioned off when the trail comes to an end this October 2021.

Art lovers will have the opportunity to bid for the unique sculptures created by artists, with themes inspired by waterways, wildlife, poetry, literature and of course, the stunning Cotswolds landscape.

The trail officially closes on Sunday 3 October 2021, when the kingfishers will be collected and prepared for the 2021 Kingfisher Auction being held at Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham on Thursday 21 October 2021.

Anyone with their eye on a particular sculpture can bid for it online using the Kingfisher Trail 2021 app, while those hoping to give the special golden kingfisher – named Sulis – a forever home can also buy one of 500 golden kingfisher raffle tickets on the app, to be in with a chance of winning the sculpture.

The free Kingfisher Trail was created by Cotswolds National Landscape in May 2021 in partnership with Visit Gloucestershire, with the 22 sculptures placed in a variety of settings across the Cotswolds, from Sudeley Castle to the Cotswold Way.

Andy Parsons from Cotswolds National Landscape said: ‘The Kingfisher Trail has already been enjoyed by a steady stream of trail spotters since it launched in the spring and will undoubtedly prove to be a popular outdoor activity, right up until the Kingfishers fly to their temporary home and the live auction at Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.

‘As birds of a feather are said to flock together, our stunning collection of Kingfisher sculptures will gather on mass for the auction and then fly off to their forever homes, with new owners and a whole new audience to enjoy their artistic beauty.’

The Kingfisher Trail remains open until Sunday 3 October 2021, with the Kingfisher Auction taking place at Pittville Pump Room on Thursday 21 October 2021.
