Cheltenham Science Festival announces free ...around town programme

Cheltenham Science Festival is set to return this June, bringing with it some of science and television’s biggest names. What’s more, the jam-packed programme for this year’s …around town events has been announced, and promises hours of fun for all ages.

Taking place as part of Cheltenham Science Festival between Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 June 2018, the …around town programme boasts over 50 free activities including hands-on fun and performances, encompassing everything from stargazing to Bioblitzing.

New for 2018, there will be the CheltSciFest Fringe; the event promises laughs, shows, quizzes and film nights, taking place in clubs and bars across town. Acts include acclaimed science show Agony Auncles of Science; a Science Showoff cabaret event; and an Algorave at Cheltenham Town Hall, offering the chance to experience electronic music generated live by using algorithms.

Other highlights include a 24-hour Bioblitz in Pittville Park; a Cyber Zone where the world-leading Artificial Intelligence company, DeepMind will be sharing its latest research; and the return of MakerShack, a fascinating hub of creativity and invention.
