Day girls at Cheltenham Ladies’ College will soon be able to stay at the school overnight, as it trials what it’s calling ‘occasional boarding’ from September 2021.
With the aim of giving day girls the opportunity to feel more involved with the school community, they will have the option to stay at the college overnight, excluding Saturday nights.
Cheltenham Ladies’ College has created three new four-bedroom day girl dormitories, each with an ensuite bathroom, that will be supervised by boarding house staff – with dorms for Lower College, Upper College and Sixth Form students.
Girls will be provided with supper in the evening and breakfast the following morning on the nights they stay over, giving them a chance to socialise with other day girls and boarding pupils outside the classroom.
The college is also offering its boarding students more flexibility too, allowing Lower and Upper College pupils to leave school on Saturday afternoons to spend time with their families – currently only Sixth Form students can do this.
Cheltenham Ladies’ College will trial the new arrangements from September and will review the results at the end of the 2021/22 academic year.
