Local pupils who would love the chance to study at the prestigious Cheltenham Ladies' College are being invited to apply for its annual bursary scheme, the Beale Awards, before applications close in July 2024.
Families can apply for up to 100 per cent funding for day or boarding entry in Year 7, Year 9 or Year 12, with additional financial support available for things like uniforms and co-curricular activities, depending on individual circumstances.
The bursary scheme is named after Cheltenham Ladies' College's longest-serving principal, Dorothea Beale, who was a pioneer in educating young women.
The world-renowned independent school is committed to educating pupils it believes will flourish in its unique environment, regardless of their means, considering both their family's financial circumstances and their individual performance in both written entrance tests and interviews, when awarding the funds.
The Beale Awards provide around £1.6 million of financial support to pupils each year, with many receiving 100 per cent fee support and others receiving a percentage based on the college's financial means-testing process. There are currently 65 students who receive support from the Beale Awards.
Gracie, a former student and Beale Awards recipient, said: 'Without my Beale Award, my life would be far less rich than it is now. CLC opened my eyes to new cultures, new opportunities, and has really shaped me into the woman that I am today.'
Another Beale Awards recipient, Lola, added: 'If I hadn't gone to CLC I don't think I would be as committed and determined and relentless in what I believe I can achieve.'
Families wishing to apply for a Beale Award for girls currently in Year 4, joining CLC in Year 7 in 2026 and beyond; currently in Year 9 joining CLC in Year 12 in 2026 and beyond; or currently in Year 5 joining CLC in Year 9 in 2027 and beyond, should complete the registration form and return it to the Admissions Department before Monday 1 July 2024.
Cheltenham Ladies' College highly recommends getting in touch well in advance so its team can guide and support applicants through the process to give them the best possible chance of being considered for funding.
