For a special Easter weekend treat, steam and diesel engines will be pulling passengers into a brand-new station, created at Broadway, along the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway.

An additional train service has been put in place from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April 2018, which will allow passengers to travel over 14 miles to and from the historic village of Broadway, all the way to the Cheltenham Racecourse station.

Trains will not be calling at Gotherington or Hayles Abbey Halt during this period, as they usually do.

The station at Broadway hasn’t been used as a stop for 58 years. But thanks to the work of volunteers, a new stretch of line has been opened and will be marked with a new plaque that’s being unveiled on Good Friday. The final rails were laid just before Christmas 2017 to complete the link between Broadway and the southern terminus at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway group says: ‘We are looking forward to a large number of visitors over the Easter weekend and therefore you may prefer to join the train at Toddington station where there is a large car park and overflow field, or at Cheltenham Racecourse where there is plenty of free car parking available.’
