While you can forget the snow boots, coats and goggles, visitors to Slimbridge Wetland Centre can travel to the Arctic tundra, this summer – when a new Arctic Adventure attraction launches on Saturday 13 July 2019.
A year in the making, the new attraction includes an authentic tundra style research hut, where children can dress up as an Arctic researcher, plan a meal (tinned reindeer, anyone?), birdwatch using binoculars and telescopes, as well as take part in animal poo analysis with microscopes!
There will also be a chance to study bird leg identification rings and discover more about the technology that tracks the Bewick’s swan migration.
With many of the birds that visit Slimbridge in the winter having travelled over 4000km from the Arctic tundra, including the world famous Bewick’s swans and Greenland white-fronted geese, Arctic Adventure is a unique chance to experience life as a WWT researcher – and the latest development as part of the Slimbridge 2020 project.
