The BBC Three hit mockumentary won two awards for best scripted comedy and best female performance in a comedy programme. But it was perhaps Daisy May’s incredible choice of outfit which left the biggest impression on the red carpet.
Dressed in an asymmetrical red dress with a white sequin trim emblazoned with the Swindon Town Football Club crest and logo, Daisy May Cooper teamed the outfit with a pair of red stiletto heels, styled to look like football socks.
When receiving her award for best female performance in a comedy programme Daisy walked up to the stage barefoot with her shoes in hand, telling the audience: ‘I had to take my shoes off because I was in absolute agony! 10 quid from eBay these were!’
Standing alongside her brother and co-star Charlie May Cooper the pair also won an award for best scripted comedy for This Country, a mockumentary about the lives of two young people living in a Cotswold village.
Daisy’s dress was designed by Fiona Hesford, a designer based in Worthing; a friend of the Cooper family. The dress was inspired by a trapeze shaped dress that Daisy had found. The final product was completely hand-made in red, with both the Swindon logo and sequin detailing hand-stitched on to the design.
