For the first time ever, The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury is hosting two special adults-only performances of its Christmas show, King Arthur: The Panto! this December 2021.
The performances will be the first time The Roses Theatre has ever hosted an adults-only version of its panto where children are banned from the auditorium – and while the story remains the same as the family-friendly show, the jokes are definitely for more mature audiences.
Aimed at people celebrating their office Christmas party, or groups of friends looking for a festive daytime experience, the performances take place at 1.30pm on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 December 2021.
The Roses Theatre is also offering drinks and food packages for the performances, including The Prosecco Package which includes panto tickets, Prosecco, a festive cocktail and a festive shot!
Head of marketing and programming at The Roses Theatre, Caroline Lawrence, said: ‘This is something we’ve wanted to try for a while. After postponing our panto last year because of Covid-19, it felt like the right time to try something new.’
‘We know there is an appetite for people to enjoy themselves and make the most of the festive season. The adult shows are exactly like our normal panto – but with less of a filter, and a little more naughtiness!’
Ben Eagle, who is starring as Ma Baker in King Arthur: The Panto! added: ‘It’s great fun. It’s an excuse for adults to leave the kids at home and have a drink and enjoy the panto without worrying about anything other than how loud you’re laughing!
‘Traditionally panto is written with children in mind, but there is also an element which appeals to adults. That doesn’t mean it’s an adult-themed show, but rather that the audience will be entertained with that level of humour.
‘The script won’t necessarily change, but I will certainly enjoy being a bit naughtier and playing with Ma Baker’s male victims more than I might in the usual show. I guarantee it will be a fun experience!’
Tickets for adults-only performances of King Arthur: The Panto! cost £15, with drinks packages starting from £25 per person, including tickets.
