A new live music, comedy and arts stage is being launched in Cheltenham this March 2023.
The new multi-functional space at The Bottle of Sauce has a stage, full audio-visual kit and PA system, allowing artists turn up, set up, plug in and play.
It is hoped that what it's calling the 'canteen stage' becomes a grassroots venue for the community with a regular line-up of open mic nights, bands, DJs, comedy, spoken word and anything in between.
Created in partnership with the University of Gloucestershire, the new arts and performance stage officially launches on Friday 24 March 2023 with a showcase of live music from talented students, as well as a DJ set curated by local favourites, Sunken Foal and a secret surprise act.
The Bottle of Sauce general manager, Rob Sanders, said: 'We want this venue to create a platform for artists, as well as providing valuable experience facilitating students in their first career steps. We are very proud to be a part of this, and it’s been excellent fun too.'
University of Gloucestershire students and staff worked on the venue from the design phase and have equipped the venue with repurposed audio tech from the university.
Andrew Lansley, senior lecturer in music business at the university, said: 'By working so closely with the university, The Bottle of Sauce is creating a social foundation that serves the younger community, providing a place for them to showcase their talent and ease their entry into the creative industries. Not forgetting entertaining Gloucestershire with some amazing talent.'
The launch party starts at 7.30pm and all are welcome, but there will be a strict one-in one-out policy once the venue has reached capacity.
