The lineup for Gloucester Guildhall's Underground Festival 2025 has been revealed — with some of the UK's best underground talent set to perform at venues across the city.
One of the biggest events in Gloucestershire's live music calendar, the long-running, one-day festival is back this March 2025, with four city centre stages for the first time ever this year.
Some of the country's best new rock, metal and acoustic artists will perform at Gloucester Guildhall, Blackfriars Priory and Cafe Rene once again in 2025 — with the city's newest music venue, The Thirsty Pine hosting a stage this year, too.
Organised and programmed by the Guildhall and Gloucestershire promoter Audio Junk Food, tickets for the festival are available on a 'pay what you choose' basis, to keep it affordable for as many people as possible.
Headlining Gloucester Guildhall are Buckinghamshire post-hardcore outfit As Everything Unfolds and Brighton-based alt metal two-piece, Lake Malice, with support from top local bands including Failstate and Death is a Girl.
Blackfriars Priory features up-and-coming singer songwriters Lexie Carroll and Ellur, alongside local acts Saint Senara and George Montague; while Cafe Rene hosts a series of 'special' sets, headlined by south west emo rockers All Ears Avow with support from local favourites, including I, The Lion and Truck.
And making its Underground debut, The Thirsty Pine hosts legendary Cheltenham punks 4ft Fingers as headliners, along with Edinburgh pop-punk outfit happydaze and local supports including Broken Jaw, Sorry Park and Sweet Mouth; with an after party at the Black Cat at Dick Whittingtons, too.
Andi Foster, who runs Audio Junk Food, said: 'When we looked at Underground 2024, we realised what a demand for tickets there were, so very early on we started looking at a new venue. I'd already been working with The Thirsty Pine so it felt like a natural fit.
'What it gives us is two main stages — rock and metal at the Guildhall and punk and ska at The Thirsty Pine. And when we spoke about having a new stage, we really wanted a local — or 'Shiregrown' — headliner, that's why we're really excited that we managed to get 4ft Fingers.
'With the Rene, we didn't want it to be just another stage, we wanted it to be something really special. So expect some sets that offer something a bit different — think MTV Unplugged.'
'We also wanted it to be affordable for everyone — pay what you can is the way around that. The Guildhall team have done an amazing job securing grants to make that possible.'
