A Go-Kart mechanic at JDR Karting in Gloucester is making her dreams come true by representing England in a pioneering Formula Woman Nations Cup World Qualifier.
Forest of Dean racing driver Becky Frankland has reached the Formula Woman Nations Cup showcase event in Dubai and is on the verge of making the FW Nations Cup Festival in May 2025.
The Formula Woman initiative aims to discover, nurture and develop female motorsport talent.
Those present at the Nations Cup have made it through to what is effectively a semi-final, from a global community of more than 10,000 participants from more than 90 different countries around the world.
To make the showcase event in Dubai, Becky has proved she has much of what it takes, across a variety of skills and qualities, to be in the shake up.
Formula Woman tests those taking part in mental agility, physical agility and fitness, media and partner handling skills, commercial knowledge, a degree of technical and mechanical sympathy and, of course, most importantly, the necessary level of driving skill and the potential to be a winner.
The 28-year-old from Coleford has long had a passion for autograss racing. During her years in autograss racing, Becky received the best newcomer award after her first season when she was 12 years old and came first in her club for three years in a row.
Since being part of Formula Woman, she has taken part in several track days, ice driving, a sprint race in the Jaguar Project 8 finishing 12th out of 74, and during a radical test day in Dubai, she achieved the fastest lap.
The Formula Woman scheme, which has headquarters in the UK, is now a respected global affair, with representatives from all over the world, including, Europe, North, Central and South America, Canada, the Middle East, the Caribbean, various parts of Asia, Australasia.
The cars that form the critical driving aspect of the event at the famous Dubai Autodrome are the Radical SR3 sports racing cars which propel cars from a standing start to 60mph in around four seconds with a top speed of more than 160mph.
Formula Woman is the brainchild of former race driver and F1 team commercial director, Graeme Glew.
He said: 'We keep a close eye on everyone who gets through the initial stages of Formula Woman, and I am delighted Becky Frankland has made it to Dubai.
'Becky comes into a level playing field situation, with every chance of making it through to the finals next year, if she can prove to us she has what it takes to progress there.'
