Cheltenham-based production company, Squashed Robot, has revealed it is responsible for directing and producing Lewis Capaldi's latest music video.

The emotive video for his new song 'Wish You The Best' was released on Friday 14 April 2023, starring national treasure David Bradley and Gentleman Jack actor Tom Lewis, with Squashed Robot's creative director, Phil Beastall, in the director's chair.

The video pays homage to the Scottish folk tale of Greyfriars Bobby, a legendary dog who guarded the grave of his owner for 14 years until his own death in 1872, with Bradley playing a village postman in the tear-jerking film.

Beastall said: 'This is a story Capaldi wanted to tell as a proud Scotsman, so we knew the video needed to be as powerful as the song that it accompanied.

'The team massively enjoyed taking on this project from pre-production through to the final edit along with an amazing team of freelancers. It’s an exciting time for Squashed Robot as we get more involved with these larger scale projects bringing recognition to the vast amount of local talent that we have here in Cheltenham.'

It's not the first time Beastall has worked with Capaldi, as he was personally asked to write and direct the video for 2019 number one hit 'Someone You Loved', which starred renowned actor and BAFTA winner, Peter Capaldi.

'Wish You The Best' is taken from Capaldi's forthcoming album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which is due to be released on Friday 19 May 2023.

While there was speculation and hope from fans that Capaldi would be headlining Barn on the Farm this year, the closest he'll come to Gloucestershire is a performance at Chepstow Racecourse on Saturday 1 July 2023.
