Footie fans across Gloucestershire have something else to celebrate after England's win against Serbia, as Gloucester has just been officially named the top UK city to watch the Euros this summer — and with the most affordable pints, too!
In new research carried out by finance comparison site, Compare the Market, the survey looked at 45 of the most populated locations across the country, analysing the average price of a pint of beer together with the number of pubs showing football matches and the average weather in June.
Gloucester topped the chart for its most affordable beer, coming in at just £2.75 per pint, with soft drinks at £1.55, and its choice of 873 pubs and clubs showing matches across the city — that's 58 pubs per 10,000 people.
Champion in its league, Gloucester beat off competition from both Preston and Luton, who came second and third.
According to the Compare the Market research, the city also historically has an average of seven hours and two minutes of sunshine per day throughout June, although we're yet to see much evidence of that so far this year...
