While Netflix thriller Baby Reindeer leads the charge with eight nominations, Cotswolds-filmed raunchy dramedy Rivals snags a sexy six nods at this year's BAFTA TV awards — with the BBC's Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light also up for an accolade.
While Rivals is set entirely in the Cotswolds during the 1980s, Wolf Hall takes viewers way back to the times of the Tudors, following the story of lawyer Thomas Cromwell as he becomes a close and trusted advisor to King Henry VIII.
Its second series features scenes filmed at Berkeley Castle — with some of the decadent costumes able to be seen at an exclusive exhibition at the castle — and it hit screens again in 2024 after a 10-year break.
As well as a nomination in the best drama series category, Damian Lewis is recognised for his role as King Henry VIII in the best supporting actor category.
Jilly Cooper's Rivals claimed multiple nods, too, including best leading actor for David Tennant, best supporting actress for Katherine Parkinson and best memorable moment for the scene in which Rupert Campbell-Black and Sarah Stratton are caught playing a game of naked tennis.
Available to stream on Disney+, the series follows Rupert, an old money MP, and covers the debaucherous world of television in the 80s, with David Tennant's character Tony Baddingham going toe-to-toe with Declan O'Hara, played by Aidan Turner.
Other top contenders include ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Apple TV's Slow Horses — along with more than 130 other programmes which have received nominations.
Catch all the winners during the BAFTA TV Awards ceremony when it airs on BBC One on Sunday 11 May 2025.
