Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2020, Giffords Circus will be taking its brand new tour, The Hooley, across the Cotswolds and beyond – with the return of plenty of Giffords favourites and some fun new excitement too.
Launching earlier than previous years at Fennel's Farm in Stroud on Thursday 9 April 2020, the new tour includes iconic Gloucestershire locations including Daylesford Organic Farm and Sudeley Castle, as well as sites in Oxford and Henley-on-Thames, and two new locations – Bowood House & Gardens in Wiltshire and the National Trust-owned Morden Hall Park in London.
Hinting at a fairy and folk tale theme, Giffords Circus’s new 2020 artwork features Nancy Trotter Landry – an audience favourite who is returning to the big top for the 20th anniversary show.
Also returning is Lil Rice, Nell Gifford’s niece, and star of the 2019 show Xanadu, who is stepping into the role of producer at Giffords Circus to ensure that Nell’s vision lives on.
And, of course, Tweedy the Clown is also back for 2020, bringing with him a unique new treasure hunt for 100 gold coins ‘hand-forged by the Giffords Circus trolls’! Tweedy, himself, will be hiding the coins at each of the circus locations – with clues to their whereabouts shared on social media.
The Hooley will also see the return of Cal McCrystal as director. He revealed: ‘There will be fairies, trolls, pixies, leprechauns, wild horses, Celtic music and dancing and all the madcap magic that Giffords is synonymous for.
‘Nell and I had a great time planning this show and as an Irishman I am excited for rehearsals to start to create what promises to be a most magical and poignant show to celebrate our 20th year.’
