It's official! Rivals is set for another saucy season of romps, with the streaming platform Disney+ revealing the news that the Jilly Cooper-inspired story will continue.
Taking place in the Cotswolds — or the newly coined 'Hotswolds' — the story of Rivals follows the excess and antics of the 'power-grabbing social elite of 1980s England.'
It stars David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Emily Atack and Aiden Turner, and with the first series climaxing with a cliffhanger, fans will be excited to know there are answers coming in the next season.
Critically acclaimed, the series was incredibly well-received by viewers — with searches skyrocketing by 60 per cent for romantic Cotswolds staycations thanks to the programmes release.
Jilly, who is an executive producer on Rivals, and also one of SoGlos's 50 most influential individuals in business in Gloucestershire 2024, commented: 'Nearly 40 years after my novel Rivals was published, I’ve adored seeing the world fall in love with my beloved characters — Rutshire’s Finest.
'It has been a fairytale come true working with [producers] Happy Prince and Disney+ on the first season. I’m orgasmic with excitement and cannot wait for the return of my superhero Rupert Campbell-Black and the rest of the characters in season two!'
Though the release date is still yet to be revealed, Rivals season two will be available to stream on Disney+ again, with the first season made up of eight episodes available to stream now.
