Some of the south west's best known jazz acts are coming to Gloucester for a live music 'celebration' this May 2025, at the city's inaugural jazz festival.
Organised and hosted by Gloucester's newest music venue, the 400-capacity Thirsty Pine Beer Cafe, the first ever Gloucester Jazz Festival promises to deliver three 'unforgettable' evenings of live jazz from Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 May 2025.
The organisers want to establish the festival as a 'new spring highlight for jazz lovers' from across the region, further expanding Gloucester's 'vibrant' calendar of live music events.
A Thirsty Pine Collective is set to headline the festival's opening night; Bristol-based upbeat swing and jazz band Ruby Jazz head the bill on the Friday; and well-known 1920s party band Trip for Biscuits, playing modern songs 'as you've never heard them before', will close out the festival in style on Saturday night.
General manager Blair Charlton said: 'The Thirsty Pine team are excited to announce a new festival for Gloucester and its music scene.
'Starting this year, we are bringing jazz onto the Pines stage in May, hoping to kick something off for the city and other venues, that will eventually be as successful and well-renowned as the blues and other music festivals have been before it.'
As well as its growing reputation as one of the city's best venues for live music, The Thirsty Pine – the former JAX Nightclub in the city centre – is well known for its extensive bar, too, stocked with dozens of craft beers from around the world, in bottles and on draught.
