The Living Room Lectures are a new series of free online lectures hosted by the University of Gloucestershire launching on Wednesday 20 May 2020, replacing its annual public lecture series.
These short, thought-provoking talks will cover a diverse range of topics, including the importance of laughter in the face of adversity, using creative photography to document the pandemic, how music can map the lives of migrants, and a special lecture on how wildlife has been affected by the lockdown as part of Cheltenham Science Festival @ Home.
Replacing the University’s annual lecture series, which cannot take place due to the current Coronavirus restrictions, the online lectures aim to entertain and enlighten people across the county and beyond.
Talks will be streamed free on the University of Gloucestershire’s Facebook page, which you can visit at facebook.com/uniofglos. Lectures will be streamed every other Wednesday at 1pm from Wednesday 20 May 2020.
The only exception will be the special Wildlife on Lockdown lecture from Adam Hart, which will be broadcast as part of Cheltenham Science Festival @ Home on the Cheltenham Festivals YouTube channel on Wednesday 3 June 2020.
Head of programming at Cheltenham Science Festival Marieke Navin said: ‘Cheltenham Science Festival @ Home is going to be an amazing mix of live online events, pre-recorded events with live Q + As with speakers, participatory workshops and some brand-new formats. Although our full line-up is yet to be announced, we are delighted that Adam Hart will appear in our digital Festival and that the University of Gloucestershire’s new Living Room Lecture series can be part of it.’
