Railway enthusiasts and train-loving kids can track down the famous Flying Scotsman this weekend, as it makes its way through Gloucestershire on Saturday 19 February 2022.
Departing London Paddington for Worcester Shrub Hill at around 7.40am, the train hauled by steam locomotive No.60103 Flying Scotsman is starting its journey on the former Great Western Railway main line – picking up passengers in Slough, Reading and Didcot on the way.
Continuing through Oxford, the train will then take the Cotswold Line – giving locals the opportunity to see the famous locomotive in action as it chugs through Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh and down Honeybourne Bank to Evesham, on its journey to the cathedral city of Worcester.
There’s also the chance to see the Flying Scotsman on its return journey to London in the late afternoon, as it steams south to Cheltenham, bypassing Gloucester and picking up the Golden Valley route from Standish Junction.
It’ll then climb steadily through Stroud on its ascent through the Golden Valley, entering the Sapperton Tunnel at the top of its climb.
The train will then descend through Kemble as it heads onwards to London via Swindon.
