Get ready for a weekend of seafaring fun as Gloucester Tall Ships Festival makes its much-anticipated return from Friday 3 June until Sunday 5 June 2022.
Taking place over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend, the hugely popular family festival promises a packed programme of entertainment spread across three days of the bank holiday – with the free event set to attract 100,000 people to Gloucester as it makes a welcome return after being cancelled in 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
With sand sculptors making incredible creations, vintage fairground rides, gravity-defying flyboard stunts and live battle re-enactments set against a soundtrack of live music from sea shanties to local performers, there’s plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy from mini maritime enthusiasts to salty sea dogs.
New for 2022, the festival is offering boarding passes for £5 each, giving budding Jack Sparrows the opportunity to step aboard the beautiful visiting ships and meet the crews which sail them – as well as a boarding pass plus for £7.50, which includes admission to the National Waterways Museum, too.
The Canal and River Trust is putting on boat trips and paddling on the water during the festival and there will be market stalls lining Gloucester Quays, with around 130 traders showcasing local produce, arts and crafts from across the south west.

‘We’ve got a spectacular programme of events and activities that visitors can enjoy – showcasing Gloucester’s maritime history and hosting international crews aboard tall ships from all over the world.’
