With an average market value of each jewel worth around £2,000, Forest Green Rovers is offering lucky football fans the chance to win a Skydiamond at each home game this season in its 'Diamond Drop' competition.

Every fan with a match day ticket - including season tickets - for each League One home game will be entered into the dazzling prize draw, offering the opportunity to win one certified Skydiamond between 0.5 and 1 carats.

Unlike mining the ground for gems, Skydiamonds are completely ethical by design and are the first and only conflict-free and carbon negative stones. The process of creation involves mining the sky for atmospheric carbon and turning it into real diamonds at the UK sky mining facility, by using renewable energy.

Dale Vince, environmentalist, founder of green energy provider Ecotricty and chairman of FGR is also the pioneer of Skydiamonds, which help remove harmful carbon from the sky and thus reduce some of the damage caused by CO2 emissions.

What's more, as production will be limited, these stones will be some of the rarest diamonds the planet.

Dale Vince said: 'I’m keen to get these amazing stones into the hands of people, especially people who may never have had diamonds on their mind, who may never expect to have one - it’s a kinda Robin Hood thing, without robbing anyone.'
