Giving care home residents the chance to experience a bike ride down Cheltenham’s Honeybourne Line, Lilian Faithfull Care has teamed up with marketing company, Signal, to take residents of the care homes out on a specially designed trishaw bike.

Officially launched on Friday 27 September 2019, the scheme will see Signal employees giving up their lunch breaks to take residents from Lilian Faithfull Care Homes out for a bike ride.

The scheme came about after Signal employee Lindsay Travis was inspired by Cycling Without Age – an enterprise that allows volunteers to sign up for bike rides with the elderly – and wanted to bring the scheme to Cheltenham.

Complete with a cosy blanket cover and two seats, the trishaw can be used to take residents and a carer, or even a resident and their relative out for what can be a really memorable experience.

Speaking about the scheme, one resident of Lilian Faithfull Care said; ‘I think it’s great. It’s been 60 years since I’ve been on a bike and I used to go down by the Honeybourne Line when I was younger.’

For more information about the scheme, SoGlos will be posting a video shortly.
