An incentive which highlights the importance of making a will, Cheltenham-based charity, Cobalt, will team up with local solicitors throughout April 2018 for Make A Will Month.

The month-long scheme will see wills, probate and trusts lawyers from various Gloucestershire solicitors offering their time and expertise for no charge, with clients able to have straightforward wills written or updated.

In return, clients can make donations to Cobalt, with suggested amounts of £100 for a single will, or £150 for a mirror will, making it an initiative that raises not only awareness, but funds for a worthwhile cause.

With statistics showing that around 70 per cent of co-habiting couples do not have a will, Make A Will Month aims to highlight the importance of having such a document to ensure both parties are able to inherit should they need to.

Speaking about the scheme, Simon Cook, partner and head of the wills, probate and trusts team at Cheltenham solicitors, Willans LLP, said: ‘A will and a lasting power of attorney are the two most important documents you’ll sign in your life.

‘Long after you’ve made one, a will should be reviewed regularly to make sure it reflects your wishes, especially if you have a life changing event.’
