A popular television drama is being filmed in Cirencester

Television film crews have been spotted in the Cotswolds again this summer, with a new series of a popular comedy-mystery series being shot on location at a Cirencester pub.

Film crews shooting the new season of detective drama Agatha Raisin temporarily taken over Cirencester’s Harry Hares pub – transforming the Grade II listed building into an Asian eatery.

Scheduled to be broadcast on both Sky TV and Acorn TV, Agatha Raisin stars Ugly Betty and Extras actress Ashley Jensen and sees a Cotswolds PR guru turned amateur sleuth solve a series of comedic murder-mysteries.

First hitting TV screens in 2014, the popular series is based on the books by prolific writer M.C. Beaton, which she wrote while living in the Cotswolds.

The novels to be adapted in season four are Kissing Christmas Goodbye, Love, Lies and Liquor, Agatha Raisin and The Spoonful of Poison, and There Goes the Bride.

In a statement, Acorn TV has said that the new season will launch in late 2021 /early 2022, but no official dates are yet confirmed.
