The University of Gloucestershire is taking offers for the sale of its Hardwick site until Friday 4 October 2024.

The University of Gloucestershire's Hardwick campus, located in the St Paul's area of Cheltenham, is on the market.

The 1.9-hectre campus is currently home to a range of creative facilities and spaces including photography and fine art studios for students; the on-campus Hardwick Gallery also offers a diverse programme of public exhibitions, talks and discussions supported by practising artists, photographers and creative directors.

A pre-application planning document for residential redevelopment has been submitted by Quattro Design Architects and Black Box Planning, which has been 'favourably received by the local authority', affirming the potential redevelopment of the University of Gloucestershire Hardwick Campus to a mixed tenure residential development, composed of flats and houses all with associated access, parking, communal and private amenity, and green infrastructure.

The development will consist of 52 houses and 17 flats, including 29 affordable homes, along with public open space, garden sizes and two parking spaces per dwelling

The design and access statement reads: 'As part of the University of Gloucestershire continuing growth and investment strategy, it has made the decision to sell Hardwick Campus

'This decision reflects the university’s ambitions to create connected, vibrant campuses that offer an excellent student and staff experience; where courses are co-located, collaboration is supported, and spaces are managed to be environmentally and financially sustainable.'

With the opportunity to host more creative courses at its main Cheltenham site, there is no further requirement to provide educational facilities at Hardwick Campus, and the site is 'surplus to requirements'.

Students will relocate to Park Campus, which is just two miles away, as well as the 800-room Pittville Student Village.

Along with its Francis Close Hall Campus in Cheltenham and Oxstalls Campus in Longlevens, the university is due to open its landmark City Campus on the former Debenhams site in Gloucester in 2025.

Offers are invited for the freehold interest with vacant possession on a conditional and unconditional basis.

The deadline for offers to be submitted is 5pm on Friday 4 October 2024.
