Stroud Brewery is seeking £100,000 in support to see out the pandemic

Gloucestershire’s much loved Stroud Brewery has launched a campaign to raise £100,000 to help the business make it through the pandemic.

Five Valleys’ favourite Stroud Brewery has launched a campaign to raise £100,000 to help the business make it through the pandemic.

The brewery, which employs 25 full-time staff, is asking customers to ‘pay it forward’ to help it raise the money, which will help see it through until the end of April 2021.’

Greg Pilley, Stroud Brewery’s managing director, said: ‘This is about cash flow. We have staff and fixed costs, but we can’t trade. This is not about donations from people – it is about paying it forward.’

In a statement the organic beer producer, said: ‘Every single person who donates will receive tickets to our exclusive Survival Supporters and Brilliant Beer Backers Party.’

Stroud Brewery lost 70 per cent of its trade overnight when the first lockdown was announced in March 2020.

Since then, it has developed its online sales – which have increased tenfold by September 2020 – as well as its export market. It has also agreed to a potentially lucrative deal with TV celebrity Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage brand, to produce an organic beer.

As for the party that donators to the Crowdfunder campaign will be buying a ticket to? ‘It’s going to be an incredible event, with some of our favourite musicians, performers and entertainers, the party to end (or is that start) all parties!’ according to the brewery.

Stroud Brewery established in 2006 and has today established itself as a Certified B Corporation with a mission to influence future beer production, right the way through to farming methods used for its ingredients, to ensure both its business and its practices have a positive impact on the environment.
