Some of Gloucestershire’s favourite stars took to the stage at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre on Saturday 2 April 2022 to raise more than £50,000 for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
The Everyman Theatre and the Barn Theatre in Cirencester teamed up to create Stand Up for Ukraine, which brought together a capacity crowd in Cheltenham and a live streamed audience around the world, for a night full of music, laughter and magic, featuring popular local stars including Rory Bremner, Dom Joly and Tweedy the Clown.
The diverse all-star show also featured West End’s Lisa Maxwell and comedy magician John Archer, as well as The EveryVoice Choir featuring Ukrainian soloist Nadia Postolatii – with Everyman panto favourite Sam Holmes hosting the evening.
Sponsorship from BPE Solicitors, Crowe, Enlightened and inplayer meant that all of the proceeds raised from the spectacular event could be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee, Gloucestershire Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees, to help people affected by the war in Ukraine.
