Meta's new Threads app launched on Thursday 6 July 2023 and SoGlos is one of the first businesses in Gloucestershire to launch on the platform.

SoGlos is one of the county's first businesses to launch on the new Threads app, which is released to the public today.

Threads is calling itself 'Instagram’s text-based conversation app' and allows users to log in with their Instagram username.

The new social media platform from Meta is set to rival Elon Musk's ailing Twitter — with Musk apparently challenging Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, to a cage fight in a Tweet responding to the news of its launch.

With SoGlos reaching record high audience numbers of 179,000 monthly online magazine readers, 28,000 weekly newsletter subscribers and 89,000 social media followers, adopting the new platform is a natural step for Gloucestershire's leading media brand.

SoGlos co-founder and managing director, James Fyrne, said: 'SoGlos's mission is to revolutionise regional media — and we are constantly striving to do just that. We launched our new SoCMS one year ago and it has transformed the way we work over the last 12 months, with new technological developments being the driving force behind SoGlos's continued growth and success.

'Being an early adopter of new technology is a fundamental part of our strategy, so being one of the county's first businesses to launch on Threads is a natural step for the business, allowing us to share our high-quality content with even more people across Gloucestershire and beyond.'
