Expanding its dominance of lifestyle media in Gloucestershire to the world of business news, SoGlos has already made a big impact on key social media channel, LinkedIn – growing followers by more than any other platform in the county.
SoGlos added business news to its armoury in October 2020, with organisations featured in stories immediately benefiting from its existing monthly reach of 146,000 readers online, as well as 35,000+ followers on Facebook, 23,000+ on Twitter and 13,000+ on Instagram.
But, we now know, its coverage hits the ground running on LinkedIn too, the favoured social media channel for business, gathering more followers than any other county media news outlet over the last six month period.
From 31 July 2020 to 31 January 2021, SoGlos welcomed 876 new followers – taking it to 1,923 in total – and enjoyed the highest engagement rate of any media outlet or publication.
‘We have known for a long time that business news was a natural fit for our audience – especially as many of our regular readers and clients are business people, but this proves it as we are delivering the kind of engaging stories people want to read,’ said Michelle Fyrne, group editor at SoGlos, a business born and bred in Gloucestershire.
‘We have also launched a dedicated weekly business email newsletter, which is gaining momentum and have brought in the county’s most experienced business journalist, Andrew Merrell, as our business editor, which further strengthens our brand.’
James Fyrne, SoGlos group publisher, said: ‘Other than our growing readership, another vote of confidence came when GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub became headline sponsors of our inaugural SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards, with a high calibre range of companies quickly stepping up to sponsor every other award too.
‘It is all part of our bid to cement our position as Gloucestershire’s leading business platform, sharing the community’s stories and championing the fantastic county in which we all live and work.
‘It is very exciting. And this is just the beginning!’
