Entries have now closed for the inaugural SoGlos Gloucestershire Business Awards – with 421 nominations received in total.
More than 190 different county companies are in the running for an award, which would guarantee them a place at the awards ceremony at Weston Aviation’s private hangar at Gloucestershire Airport on Thursday 9 September 2021.
Decisions on just who will be at the biggest Gloucestershire business event of 2021 now lie with a judging panel made up of the awards sponsors, including GFirst LEP and The Growth Hub.
James Fyrne, group publisher and co-founder of SoGlos, which now has a combined monthly reach of 260,658, said: ‘We have been taken aback by the support everyone has shown – from our prestigious sponsors to the number of entries we have received from fantastic businesses across the county.’
Dev Chakraborty, deputy chief executive of the local enterprise partnership, said: ‘What an overwhelming response! It highlights the number of successful, diverse and proactive businesses in our amazing county.
‘The last 15 months have been challenging for us all, these awards are a welcome positive boost to the business community focusing a spotlight on the many amazing companies in Gloucestershire.
‘It’s going to be a real challenge to shortlist the entries, let alone to pick the winners, but we’re up for the challenge and look forward to working with the SoGlos team and all the other sponsors involved.
‘Roll on September for what I am sure will be a fantastic awards evening!’
Alex Cottrell, Gloucester Growth Hub manager, said: ‘What a fantastic number of entries we have had for the SoGLos Awards this year – a clear sign that the county has lots to shout about and celebrate.
‘I’m very much looking forward to reviewing the entries with my panel colleagues and seeing all the fantastic examples of business innovation, agility and growth that will have helped our county businesses survive and perhaps thrive.
‘What a great way to kick off the road to business recovery.’
Entries have come from exciting new businesses to established major employers, Gloucestershire family firms, tech and cyber-focused companies, manufacturers, exporters, food, retail, professional services, engineering and tourism.
SoGlos plans to reveal the shortlist at the end of July and feature some of those firms vying for honours thereafter.
Winners will be announced at the awards event at Weston Aviation’s private hangar on September 9.
