Gloucestershire County Council is inviting members of the local community to share their thoughts on new proposals for improvements to M5 Junction 10 in Cheltenham.
Open for discussion until Wednesday 25 November 2020, the public consultation survey enables Gloucestershire locals and commuters to have their say on a number of planned upgrades to the motorway junction, as well as to the A38/A4019 junction at Coombe Hill, and improvements along the A4019.
Funded by Homes England, the proposed works are designed to enhance motorway access to a new road connecting north and west Cheltenham – increasing local transport links and supporting Gloucestershire’s ambitious growth plans, which will bring more traffic through the county. Homes England also awarded funding for an upgrade to Arle Court Park and Ride, in a bid to promote sustainable transport through improving alternatives to car travel in central Cheltenham.
While the exact location of the new M5 junction is yet to be decided, public feedback will help identify a preferred option for the new design and link road layout, as well as ensuring that the proposed changes at Coombe Hill and along the A4019 work for commuters and the local community.
All feedback will be summarised in the council’s public consultation report – and, together with the findings from further technical work, will inform the decisions that are made for a preferred route, to be announced in spring 2021.
