Businesses in Tewkesbury dependent on the hospitality or leisure sectors now have another potential financial lifeline in the form of a new grant from the Borough Council.

Tewkesbury Borough Council has launched a Discretionary Omicron Grant, designed to support those businesses not eligible for its existing Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant.

Those able to qualify include businesses in the hospitality or leisure sector not operating from business-rated premises or which do not provide an in-person service from their premises; businesses supplying an ‘in-person service’ business in the hospitality and leisure sectors, such as a brewery or wholesaler; businesses in the events sector supplying the events sector; and taxi drivers and other transport operatives who live in Tewkesbury Borough.

Councillor Rob Bird, leader of Tewkesbury Borough Council, said: ‘Earlier this month we introduced a new grant scheme targeting the hospitality and leisure sectors. However, the government set strict criteria for eligibility for this grant, and so we recognise that some businesses won’t qualify for this support.

‘We are working to ensure as many local businesses as possible receive financial assistance by introducing this additional discretionary grant.’

The grant is open for application and will close on Sunday 30 January 2022.

To apply for a Discretionary Omicron Grant, and for more information, visit the Tewkesbury Borough Council website.
