While SoGlos readers will already be aware of the buzz around the pending opening of new nightclub, Home & Botanic, in the regency building that was Thirteen Degrees on St George’s Road.
What they might not be aware of is the sizeable investment behind the move or the scale of the ambition for the business.
Nick Martindale, public relations director for Cheltenham-headquartered Epic Bars & Clubs, which owns Home & Botanic, said: ‘We are really excited by the project. When fully up and running it should create 50 jobs.
‘And we love the old building. It has been a club in one form or another since 1919 – even been an American servicemen’s club. We are looking forward to continuing that proud history as a nightclub.
‘We are investing between £1.5 million and £2 million in all in the property.’
The venue will aim to cater for a spread of ages and tastes, with five different rooms offering music from dance and R&B to a live pianist and lounge bar.
There will be cocktails as well, and it has also linked-up with some local businesses, too including county-based Gloucester Brewery, Battledown Brewery, Sibling Gin, Dunkertons Cider and Neptune rum.
