A new-build business park at Gloucester Airport has taken a significant step forward, according to the team behind the development.
The CGX Connect will create 30,000 square metres of commercial space, up to 1,500 new jobs, is backed by £1.885 million Growth Deal funding through GFirst LEP and is described as a ‘flagship development’ for the airport.
Mark Price, managing director of Vitruvius Management Services which is managing the project for the airport, said Montel Civil Engineering had now completed the new access road to the site, off the B4063 at Staverton.
Karen Taylor, managing director of Gloucestershire Airport, said: ‘Now there’s vehicular access to the site, we expect things to move quickly.
‘This access road will unlock future development and brings us one step closer to realising a landmark development with the potential to unlock so much growth for the region.
‘We’ve already seen strong interest in CGX Connect from businesses in Gloucestershire and the West Country, as well as those with national operations.’
David Owen, chief executive of GFirst LEP, said: ‘It’s an exciting time for Gloucestershire as this project nears fruition.’
Taylor added: ‘These are transformational times for Gloucestershire Airport. CGX Connect, along with ongoing work to “upgrade the airport’s runways”, will elevate the quality and status of the airport as a ‘gateway for growth’ for the many significant developments being brought forward across the region.’
