King of Shaves has named Stroud-headquartered BookCheck as a key catalyst in helping it become a multi-million-pound business.

British men’s grooming brand, King of Shaves, says the specialist services of Stroud-based BookCheck has enabled it to grow into the multi-million-pound business that it is today.

As the popular brand began to gain fans, the business – which was started by Will King on his kitchen table – faced the challenge of many fast-growing firms, how to better manage costs, cash flow and maintain focus.

It turned to specialist outsourced bookkeeping firm BookCheck, headquartered near Stroud, for a replacement to accounting and stock management software, which was proving too complex and expensive.

BookCheck used its Migration plus Add-on Development (MAD) service to transfer the firm’s back-office systems seamlessly onto the world-leading cloud-based Xero software platform, which also delivered the clarity of data it was looking for.

Andy Hill, managing director of King of Shaves, said: ‘We moved to BookCheck in November 2018 and it has proven to have been an excellent move. It’s allowed us to focus our efforts on our business as we have such confidence in their abilities to cover the bases on the finance side.

‘We have made big gains in streamlining and simplifying the finance side of our business. It’s transformed our processes and we now have quality MI (management information).

It took BookCheck just over a month after it started working with King of Shaves to get the firm’s new Xero-based system up and running.

As well as tailored management reports, BookCheck’s MAD service also gave King of Shaves access to ‘add-ons’ – apps tailored to deliver for the company’s needs.

Hill also described BookCheck as ‘a great company with great people.’
