The Forest of Dean District Council is looking for tenants to run the new Lydney Historic Harbour Café concession, as part of its plan to develop the area for future tourism.
The café comes with 5-year planning consent and, if successful, the Council may develop a more permanent solution with the successful tenant.
Alongside repurposing the existing buildings during July 2021, a new modular unit is being installed for the café concession – with all essential utility connections and internal shell, ready for a new local business to flourish and make their own.
Other plans to enhance Lydney Harbour as a visitor attraction include new mooring and seating points; new landscaping with tree planting; and improvements to both highway and station approaches. A community rowing boat building project could also be on the cards.
Cabinet member for regeneration, Bernie O’Neill, said: ‘The café location is ideal and a much-needed addition to the harbour, as well as being a great opportunity for a new business.’
Anyone interested in the café tenancy can apply now.
