James Bond star Daniel Craig revealed as mystery donor who helped save Stroud's Brimscombe Mill

British actor and star of the James Bond franchise, Daniel Craig, has been revealed as one of the mystery benefactors who helped save The Brimscombe Mill community from closure.

Daniel Craig donated £50,000 to Brimscombe Mill in Stroud to help save it from closure in October 2024.

Speaking on BBC Points West on Wednesday 13 November 2024, director of Brimscombe Mill and founder of The Long Table, Tom Herbert, has revealed actor Daniel Craig donated £50,000 to the mill's fundraising efforts to secure the future of the Brimscombe community and its charities. 

Tom said: 'Daniel Craig pledged £50,000 to the mill. I don't know how it happened — he doesn't come here all the time!

'It obviously landed with him and made an impression with him; and what an extraordinary thing.

'We're super grateful obviously — it's very surprising where your help comes from. We're really grateful he heard the cry and answered.'

While Daniel Craig doesn't have a current connection with Gloucestershire, it was rumoured he once considered buying a property in the Cotswolds.

Tom suggests it was a case of 'seven degrees of separation' and the actor may have heard of the mill's plight through a connection of his wife, actress Rachel Weisz.

Let's just say Daniel decided it was No Time to Die for the mill community and his wealth and kindness refused to let the Skyfall on Brimscombe...
