Businesses in Tewkesbury which have been affected by flooding during Storm Henk this January 2024 can now apply for financial support from Tewkesbury Borough Council.
Its Business Recovery Grant is offering eligible SMEs grants of up to £2,500 each to repair flood-damaged property, replace lost stock or equipment and make up for lost earnings due to restricted access for staff, customers and suppliers during the floods.
In order to qualify, businesses must have fewer than 250 employees and a turnover of less than £50 million or a balance sheet total of less than £43 million — and have been directly or indirectly impacted by the flooding between Tuesday 2 and Friday 12 January 2024.
Affected businesses can also apply for business rates relief of up to 100 per cent for a minimum of three months if their property was flooded or floods significantly impacted their ability to trade.
Tewkesbury Borough Council leader, councillor Richard Stanley, said: 'The launch of the Business Recovery Grant and business rates relief is welcome news, extending financial assistance to businesses that have been affected by flooding following Storm Henk. I urge any business from Tewkesbury Borough that has been impacted to make an application.
'I would also like to encourage people to use the local businesses who are very much open for business — so please do show them your support.'
Eligible businesses can apply for a Business Recovery Grant via Tewkesbury Borough Council's website, or email businessrates@tewkesbury.gov.uk to apply for business rates relief.
