Willans employment law partner Jenny Hawrot and real estate lawyer Charlotte Cowdell have been both been awarded exclusive statuses in the internationally recognised independent legal guide Chambers UK.

Lawyers and departments across Cheltenham's Willans LLP have been recognised for their expertise, knowledge and level of service in two prestigious legal guides in 2024.

The leading south west solicitors has been ranked in the 2025 editions of the Chambers UK legal guide and The Legal 500 UK, both of which are internationally recognised and provide insight and practical guidance around the country's best law firms each year.

Among the lawyers endorsed by Chambers UK is senior associate solicitor in its real estate team, Charlotte Cowdell, who has been named a ‘star associate’ for the second year running — and is the only real estate lawyer in the south west region to achieve this status.

And employment lawyer Jenny Hawrot has also been named 'up and coming' for a second consecutive year in another exclusive for the south west region.

Others recognised are family law partners Sharon Giles and Jonathan Eager; corporate and commercial partner Chris Wills; agriculture and real estate partner Adam Hale; litigation and dispute resolution partner Paul Gordon; real estate partner Nigel Whittaker; and employment partner Matthew Clayton.

Five Willans departments have also been ranked for the south west, including its agriculture and estates; corporate and commercial; litigation and dispute resolution; and real estate teams, with its family law team being ranked in the south west for the first time for 2025 following its recent expansion in the region.

The Chambers results follow the latest rankings for The Legal 500 UK, which recommended 24 of Willans’ lawyers across multiple departments, as well as recognising four of Willans’ partners as 'leading individuals' – Chris Wills, Nigel Whittaker, Paul Gordon and Matthew Clayton.

Jenny Hawrot and Nick Southwell were named 'next generation partners' for a second year, while both Charlotte Cowdell and Emma Thompson retained their 'rising star/associate to watch' statuses from last year.

Commenting on the results, Willans managing partner, Bridget Redmond said: 'I’d like to congratulate all of our fantastic lawyers and departments for achieving another year of impressive results in these prestigious legal guides.'

With a history of supporting local, national and overseas clients for over 75 years from its Cheltenham offices, Willans employs over 100 people in 2024 and provides a range of legal services for businesses and individuals, from residential property and conveyancing to corporate and commercial law.
