Heritage attractions in Gloucestershire are receiving a share of the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund.
Nine Gloucestershire organisations are in line to receive a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage, which will see a total of £67 million provided to fund operating costs and help sites reopen and recover from the Coronavirus pandemic.
The largest grants go to Westonbirt Arboretum, which will receive £195,500; Gloucester Cathedral, which will receive £200,000; and Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, which will receive £318,000.
Grants are also being provided to Clearwell Caves, Discover DeCrypt, Gloucester History Trust, Llanthony Secunda Priory, Tewkesbury Abbey and Woodchester Mansion.
Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden, said: ‘As a nation it is essential that we preserve our heritage and celebrate and learn from our past. This massive support package will protect our shared heritage for future generations, save jobs and help us prepare for a cultural bounceback post Covid.’
