Green energy supplier Ecotricity has been announced as the new energy partner for BAFTA albert — a scheme offering renewable energy at affordable prices to the creative industry in the UK.
The Stroud-based firm, which is known for being the country's greenest energy company, is working with albert to supply the Creative Energy Scheme, which supports the decarbonisation of the TV and film industry.
For creative companies, especially those working in the screen industry, switching to a renewable energy supplier is the one of the biggest ways they can reduce their carbon footprint.
The partnership between Ecotricity and albert will not only provide green energy at affordable rates to creative companies, but also help them make sustainable choices across their businesses through guidance, measurement tools and thought leadership.
Since its inception in 1995, Ecotricity has operated on a not-for-dividend business model, meaning the company reinvests any profits made from customers into building new sources of green energy.
Ecotricity founder, Dale Vince OBE, said: 'It’s our great pleasure to be going ‘back of house’ with BAFTA albert on their new Creative Energy Scheme — helping to green up the production of TV and film in Britain.'
Managing director of albert, Matt Scarff, added: 'In 2023 energy consumption on location, in production offices and in studio facilities followed travel as the second-highest emission area for production.
'While we have seen progress to reduce impact in this area, there is still a long way to go. That is why being able to partner with Ecotricity and provide affordable green energy through the albert Creative Energy Scheme is so important. Simple and affordable solutions are how we’re going to achieve meaningful climate action.'
