Ecotricity comes out on top in a list curated by Citizens Advice rating energy providers in the UK.
The Stroud-based green energy supplier secured the number one position in the list, which is scored by a 'data-driven and unbiased reflection of customer service in the energy industry.'
The ranking considers the number of complaints received; response times to email and app queries; the amount of time it takes to speak to someone on the phone; and how many requests Citizens Advice receives for additional support.
Over the past year, Ecotricity has introduced several changes to its customer service processes, such as extending its customer service access hours to between 9am and 7pm from Monday to Friday, and 9am until 5pm on weekends and selected bank holidays.
It has also focused on upskilling and training more people to better support its customers, whilst updating its billing system to make it easier for households to manage their energy bills.
The list's top five also features Outfox The Market, Ovo Energy, Utility Warehouse and E (Gas and Electricity) — with British Gas coming in at number 14 and EDF Energy at number 16.
Ecotricity announced the news on its website, with its founder, Dale Vince, commenting: 'It’s a testament to the work we put into looking after our customers, especially during this cost-of-living crisis.
'Earlier this year, Ecotricity was one of just three suppliers to achieve the coveted Which? Recommended Provider status, earning the highest customer scores. There’s a clear pattern emerging here — we’re committed to excellence.'
